Channeling Jeff Foxworthy In A Country Founded By Geniuses And Run By Idiots

Foxworthy

EDITORS NOTE: Some have passed my list below around on the Internet, dressing it up as if it were actually Jeff Foxworthy’s words. They’re not. Notice the headline is “Channeling” Jeff Foxworthy, because I borrowed a similar style. But I’m not upset they stole my idea. In fact, I think it’s flattering (next time, how about an attribution?).

Snopes even did a piece on my post that’s been pawned off as if it were Jeff’s. Interestingly, in some cases, those who have “borrowed” my list chose to leave some of them off. Apparently, they don’t fit their idea of government hypocrisy. In any event, WELCOME to Politically True. Come on in, have a look at this post and others. Feel free to comment. • If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If the only school curriculum allowed to explain how we got here is evolution, but your government stops a $15 million construction project to keep a rare spider from evolving to extinction … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book, but not to vote for who runs your government … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If your government believes that using steroids or other drugs will ruin your life, but throwing you in prison for years will not … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If your government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If an 80-year-old woman can be strip-searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested “homes”… you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing, and free cell phones … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If your government’s plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of Unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big screen TV while your neighbor buys iPhones, TVs and new cars, and your government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.
  • If your government believes that the way to make a school of unarmed children safe is to pass another law, this time with the illusion that three 10-round magazines in a rifle is safer than a 30-round magazine … you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.

  3. I’m definitely gonna re-post this (all credits to yourself, of course, Fritz)!

Perhaps the nation was founded by legalists, but is now run by criminals?

All criminals pretend to be idiots, refusing to think, to defend their crimes.

  4. My 88 year old widower uncle who took time to visit his granddaughters computer fair class. At the end he put his hand on her shoulder and looked her in the eye and said .”I am just amazed at what you can do with this little machine!” A teacher came over and immediately reprimanded him for touching his granddaughter. He will never go to another class visit. Jim Weis

  5. Hi, I do think this is a great website. I stumbledupon it ;) I’m going to revisit once again since I saved as a favorite it.

Love your humorous way to look at the dismal situation we have. I originally posted the first one attributing Jeff Foxworthy, cause that was how I saw it. But even while I was posting it, I was thinking …. it was odd to be his. So I searched and found you here. I will be sharing each one at a time, so none are lost and each can be thought about all on their own. However, I went back and corrected the attribution and correctly quoted you for the second. I will continue providing the correct attribution to you for the rest. Thanks for the laughs.

I can’t imagine any thinking American disagreeing with your dissertation on the stupidity of our lawmakers. Many have been to Harvard or some other prestigious college but lack the most necessary ingredient of life…..common sense!

If you live in land where government believes they have godlike powers to control the climate by “skyrocketing” energy costs you might live in a country founded by geniuses and run by idiots.

  10. I read your article on a friends wall and hit Like, I then clicked on “One Man’s View” and seen where he apologized and he gave credit where credit was due and that was to you.. When I seen it was written by you, I went back to where I originally seen the article and I added your link in the comment section and told them it was written by you :) Not sure if anyone will see it…. I am also going to share this on my wall and making sure that my friends know that you wrote this. It was just an honest mistake.but I liked how you handled the situation. :) You now have a new follower. Judy Hood

We shared this on facebook the text part of it we could not change and it has gone all over the internet from us. I did add in the tagline on our site. I believe you were the person behind it. Thank you for such a creative mind. http://www.freedomsvoicemedia.com national radio host here who loves your humor.

  20. WHOMEVER WROTE THIS, HAS THE EAR OF AMERICA, WITH TRUTH TO BE TOLD, AND PPL OF AMERICA ARE FED UP WITH THE GOVERNMENT. NOW LET’S SEE THE PPL OF AMEERICA STAND AND DEMAND THAT THE GOVERNMENT DO WHAT IS RIGHT, NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT.

  21. How do I get the URL for your blog so I can follow you in my newly created reader account? This site is so frustrating. I can only search by topic? You would have more followers if they could figure-out how to do it!

    • I don’t know about reader accounts, Moamie. But thanks for asking, I’ll read up on it and see if I can figure something out. I’m not technically savvy … the URL isn’t politicallytrue.com?

Interestingly enough, I found a posting on Facebook of this content that was attributed to Jeff Foxworthy, not you. But after a friend of mine saw it shared on my page (who does not share my political beliefs) she replied to my post with a link to Snopes.com, I found out you were the original author. Even more interesting enough, she added her note to the link, “Jeff Foxworthy did NOT write this! Several things in this statement are seriously offensive.” I almost had to chuckle because she herself has posted numerous political things (she’s happens to be a Democrat) and takes offense when people disagree with her and goes on and on about how close minded conservative thinkers are and her views are better. She discourses with people on Facebook who disagree with her and tells them they are offending her. After reading your story about the waiter and the lady who took offense to a conversation she wasn’t a part of, I saw more of who my friend is and what people like her truly believe. It’s okay for her to have her opinion and call others offensive, but not the other way around. I decided not to respond to her comment and ignore it. By responding, I felt it would only give her and people with that mindset the power to think they can announce to everyone else on your social media account that something you happen to agree with is so seriously offensive that they take the time to let your friends know how “open” minded they are compared to you.

  23. Oh how I wish there were a “OMG I love this bc it’s about time someone said it” icon to press. If you like then then you will really enjoy my take on Separate but Equal (www.thisblackwomansopinion.wordpress.com/Separate but Equal )

Brilliant! Out of the mouths of babes and comedians.

  25. I agree with what he said, be it Jeff or not.

  26. larry

    unfortunately very true

  27. I needed this in my life today. Thank you very much!

  28. Written by a genius about a bunch of idiots who are destroying our country!!

  29. Carolyn Burger

This is so brilliant! I applaud you for such a creative way to state the incredible things our government has done and is still doing to take away our freedoms and tax us more!

  30. CJ

So UBBELIEVEABLY TRUE, but soooo sad!!!

  31. patrick

    Very true

  32. Should Facebook attempt to erase this I have copied it on a Word document and will post it again every day. t least it will provide work for the censors.

  33. hootie

https://www.facebook.com/#!/dale.gwilliam Hey, this guy has over 40,000 shares of your piece, attributing it to Jeff Foxworthy.

If your country tries to claim that you are not welcoming of their religion and that you are thus denying them that freedom, yet demand that you remove evidence of your own religion from society… you might live in a country founded by genius and run by idiots.

    • Amen! Great point. You cannot make fun of or degrade any other religion except Christianity. When Jesus said that you should count it a joy to be persecuted in my name, I did not think it would be by the very government founded on Christianity!

  35. Patrick

Fritz–Just wanted to let you know this piece is making the rounds on Facebook and is being CREDITED to Jeff Foxworthy (probably because the posters are too lazy (or maybe they are idiots as well?) to figure out your title was a reference to Mr. Foxworthy’s comedic style). I don’t agree with most of your points but I do think it is clever and well written, and I can appreciate well written comedic commentary on both sides of the political fence. I also thought you should get credit for your work.

  36. Jared Bahr

    So true!
